Sluice Light / Sluice Sound: Songs between waters, between tides

Four tunnels reach beneath Underfall Yard, from the Floating Harbour to the New Cut. Below the Sluice House they meet the massive iron gates which are raised and lowered to protect the harbour from flooding and drain silt. Sluice activation induces currents that swirl, agitate and animate the water within. Artists Melanie Clifford and Matt Davies have been investigating the rising and falling of the water held and released there: the reflective caustics and resonant frequencies of this fluctuating space. For Docks Heritage weekend, you are invited to enter the Sluice House and share their excitement.
