Halogen (2026), 2 x 16mm Film Loops and 1 x 16mm Bipacked Projector.
Two film loops hang from the ceiling and pass through a 16mm projector. The two loops are positive and negative versions of the same event, the simple act of the projector’s bulb being switched on, then off, filmed through the lens at 64fps. An attempt to capture the sustain of light from the dying bulb. The loops were made on the artists home made contact printer. The flaws of the printer mean that these two generational prints fail to register with each other. When passed through a single 16mm projector the blacks of both the positive and negative should completely block out the bulb’s beam. The light you see, that leaks out on to the screen, should not be there.
Sluice Light / Sluice Sound: Songs between waters, between tides

Four tunnels reach beneath Underfall Yard, from the Floating Harbour to the New Cut. Below the Sluice House they meet the massive iron gates which are raised and lowered to protect the harbour from flooding and drain silt. Sluice activation induces currents that swirl, agitate and animate the water within. Artists Melanie Clifford and Matt Davies have been investigating the rising and falling of the water held and released there: the reflective caustics and resonant frequencies of this fluctuating space.
